1. Mariners are advised that the swimming portion of the Ironman Triathlon will be held on October 21, 2023 from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Approximately 2500 swimmers will compete in a 1.2 mile swim race within Banks Channel and Motts Channel in Wrightsville Beach, NC. A Safety Zone will be enforced for all waters, shoreline to shoreline, starting at Shinn Creek, north along Banks Channel to Blockade Runner Dock, then west into Motts channel, terminating at Sea Path Marina. No vessels will be permitted to transit this area without CG approval. 2. To facilitate the 15th Annual 70.3 IRONMAN North Carolina Triathlon, the SR 74 (Wrightsville Beach) Bridge will be maintained in the closed position from 5:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. on October 21, 2023, and the Isabel S. Holmes Bridge will be maintained in the closed position from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 21, 2023. The bridges will be able to open for emergencies, if at least a fifteen-minute prior notice is given. Vessels able to pass through the bridges in the closed position may do so at any time.
