The USV will collect oceanographic information via onboard sensors from an operational data collection site bound by the following approximate positions:\n28-20-25N 089-24-28W,\n28-20-25N 088-51-18W,\n27-47-07N 088-51-18W and\n27-47-07N 089-24-28W.\nThe USV will launch from the LUMCON Facility in Cocodrie, LA, and will be escorted by a support vessel to an area near Cat Island Pass.  The USV will then head south, under the supervision and control of the remote piloting team, to the data collection area.  Once on-site, the SP-48 will spend approximately 24-hours in the data collection area.  After data collection is complete, the USV will be remotely piloted back to LUMCON and meet with an escort vessel for the nearshore transit inland.  The SP-48 is a solar powered 4.8 meter USV, with a cruising speed of 3 kts and a top speed of 5 kts.  The USV is equipped with an AIS transceiver, running lights, a yellow signal flag to aid in observability, and is marked with “UNCREWED” on the transom.
